With Gratitude Raising the Barr Weekly Memo: Issue 514

Gratitude
noun

    the state of being grateful: THANKFULNESS

This is the definition of gratitude according to Merriam-Webster. Simple, straightforward and easy to comprehend.

THANKFULNESS

It seems like an easy concept to grasp and yet so often, when challenges arise, anger momentarily blinds us and thwarts our capacity to appreciate the beauty and the gifts around us.

This past week especially, leading up to Thanksgiving, there have been an array of memes and sayings having to do with gratitude floating around on social media. Laurel often collects and copies these and she’s shared some with me.

When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or you take them with gratitude.

“Be thank for what you have;
You’ll end up having more.
If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never,
ever, have enough.”
Oprah Winfrey

“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance. “
Eckhart Tolle

Life is a series of thousands of tiny little miracles.
Notice them.
Piglet noticed that even though he had a very small heart, it could hold a rather large amount of gratitude.
A.A. Milne
