Shana Tova – Happy New Year Raising the Barr Weekly Memo: Issue 246

I wrote last week’s newsletter as an offshoot of my recent fear and frustration at having my Florida family, especially my little grandkids, huddling for hours in a closet under their stairs to protect them from Irma’s wrath. Though I offered them safe passage to Cleveland, they followed the orders of their municipality to be prepared and stay put. I couldn’t control the situation at all. My fear for them suddenly reignited my struggle with our son’s addiction that I had, in a sense, been living with and kept on simmer.

I didn’t imagine the depth and outpouring of love and compassion from many of my wonderful colleagues, clients and friends, as they shared their comments, hopes and prayers in response.

As we are getting ready tonight to start celebrating the Jewish New Year, I want to thank all of you for reaching out and for your kind note.

With great gratitude, L’shana Tova and may this year bring with it health, happiness, prosperity and peace.
