The Great Disconnect Raising the Barr Weekly Memo: Issue 301

I’ve been talking recently about looking at things we know through a new lens and a different vantage point. I’ve had the great opportunity this last two weeks to explore through my multiple camera lenses the vast expanses of the west, namely, Utah.

Sunsets, and sunrises, leaves deepening colors, desert, arches and a search for the Milky Way in the vast horizon and night sky.

This rich experience, has allowed me to clear my head, open my eyes and connect with nature and this incredible land in a way I never dreamed.

Cell phone coverage has been spotty at best and non-existent at most locations. Who knew that the great disconnect, the real unplugging of my head, would allow me to reconnect to life, create new thoughts and ideas and expand my passion for my hobby and my business?

I found that stepping away propelled me forward to the next plateau, enveloped by the incredible beauty and splendor that is found in the mountains, rocks, lakesand vistas here in Moab populated with creatures that seem to reflect the serenity of their surroundings.

I encourage all of you to make time to leave the electronic world behind for a few days or weeks and see where it leads you. You may be surprised that your return has been energized and your batteries recharged without an electric plug or device in sight.

Happy trails…
