Use Precision Prompts to Break Your Invisible Ceiling Raising the Barr Weekly Memo: Issue 669

When high performers stall, it is rarely a talent problem, it is a clarity problem. Sometimes it looks like procrastination, which is usually clarity avoidance. The fix is simple and practical: define the next visible action, schedule a short timed block to start, remove any friction points before you begin and take action. If you still stall, add a small consequence for not starting.

Peter Drucker said, “The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence, it is to act with yesterday’s logic.” Stagnation is yesterday’s logic in disguise. You can be skilled, busy, and still constrained by unexamined assumptions that no longer fit your goals. A sharp diagnostic prompt shines a light on those assumptions and helps convert ambiguity into action.

A good prompt is a decision tool. It can help you audit how you actually work, your calendar, offers, handoffs, metrics, and decisions, then it forces a choice. The point is not inspiration. The point is a decision you can put on a calendar.

What this looks like in practice:

  • Too many projects? Pause most of them, focus on three, promote one thing for several weeks.
  • More content is the answer? Create or reuse one strong piece, promote it multiple ways and on multiple platforms.
  • Burnt out from fixing everything? Delegate to others, leverage your team.

The mechanism is straightforward. The right prompt helps you identify the real bottleneck. Once you identify it, you can change your time, your offers, and leverage yourself and your team to remove it.

I was stunned by how precisely this prompt exposed what was really holding me back.

Use My Prompt

Copy, paste, and run this verbatim. Then act on what you learn.

“Act as a world-class strategist and performance psychologist.

Your job is to diagnose what limits my next level of growth as a high-performing consultant or creator.

Separate your response into two sections:

1. Strategic Performance Layer

Identify what I *think* my biggest business or execution problems are, then reveal the *real* strategic constraints: leverage gaps, focus drift, team issues, or misaligned structure.

Explain why these prevent growth and what must change operationally.

2. Psychological Identity Layer

Identify what I *believe* my inner or mindset challenges are, then reveal the *deeper* identity patterns driving resistance, control, or perfectionism.

Explain how these create friction even when my systems are optimized.

Respond like an elite advisor: concise, analytical, and actionable.

No fluff, no motivation, just clarity I can act on.”

How to use it well: schedule 30 minutes, run the prompt, highlight three insights, translate each one into a calendar block or a kill decision. If it does not touch your calendar, it is entertainment.

After running this, highlight three truths that sting a little. Translate each one into a change you’ll make this week. Something visible on your calendar.)

Stop acting with yesterday’s logic. Use this prompt today, identify the bottleneck, then make one concrete change that shows up in your schedule, your promotions, and your commitments. Momentum follows commitment, not inspiration.
