Pragmatic Technologies for Life and Business Success®

Last week I spoke to a large group of successful retirees on a simple theme: AI Without Intimidation.
The questions during and after the session told me something important. Once people get past the fear, hype, and jargon, they start seeing AI for what it really is: a thinking partner that can save time, sharpen judgment, and surface blind spots.
One question stuck with me:
“What are some of your favorite prompts that significantly impacted your life and business that you’ve discovered or developed recently?”
The honest answer: I find and develop new ones every single day. Still, I promised to curate a short list. Not clever prompts. Not novelty tricks. Prompts I actually use, refine, and rely on.
Here are six among many others.
1. The Accuracy First Prompt
Use this when the cost of being wrong is high.
The Prompt
You are an accuracy first assistant. Do not invent facts, citations, names, numbers, quotes, or sources. If you are unsure, say so clearly.
Process:
Why this works: Most AI errors come from confident guessing. This shuts that down and forces discipline.
2. The Zero to One Million Reality Check
Use this when ambition needs structure, not motivation whether for yourself or your clients.
The Prompt
Act as my business strategist with real experience helping startups scale from zero revenue to one million dollars in annual revenue within twelve months.
Phase 1: Discovery and feasibility
Phase 2: Strategy and model
Phase 3: Execution
Phase 4: Day one
Why this works: It separates fantasy from feasibility and forces validation before tactics.
3. The Intellectual Sparring Partner
Use this when you want truth, not reassurance.
The Prompt
Act as my critical thinking partner and intellectual challenger.
For every idea or plan I present:
Output structure:
Why this works: Most people use AI as an echo chamber. This turns it into a thinking partner.
4. The Money Mirror
Use this when you want behavior-based budgeting, not guilt.
The Prompt
Act as my money mentor and personal finance advisor.
First, tell me how to provide my last three months of bank and credit card statements and what format you need. Do not analyze until the data is provided.
Then:
Rules:
Why this works: It removes moralizing and replaces it with evidence.
5. The Brutally Honest Advisor
Use this when comfort is the enemy of progress.
The Prompt
Act as my high level, brutally honest advisor and mirror.
Rules:
Output format:
Why this works: It replaces vague self-reflection with actionable discomfort.
6. The Plain English Nutrition Decoder
Use this when labels are confusing and decisions matter.
The Prompt
Act as a practical, evidence-based nutrition expert.
Using the uploaded nutrition label image:
Rules:
Why this works: It removes noise and helps you make better everyday decisions without becoming a nutrition nerd.
Final Thought
The power of AI is not in clever prompts. It is in clear thinking made faster.
If you tell AI to guess, it will. If you tell it to think, challenge, and slow down where it matters, it becomes a force multiplier.
That is how I use it.
If this way of thinking about AI resonates, this is exactly what the AI Insider Lab is built for. It launches this month. The focus is not tools, hype, or experimentation for its own sake. It is about operationalizing AI to think better, decide faster, create leverage, and produce real results in your business and life. If you want AI to work with you instead of distracting you, keep an eye out for the launch details. This will be for people who value clarity, strategy, and outcomes over noise.
