Pragmatic Technologies for Life and Business Success®

Most professionals I work with are not struggling because they lack expertise. They are struggling because they cannot clearly express what they know in a way that makes the right people stop and say: “I never thought about it this way. I need more of this.”
After nearly four decades working across software development, internet strategy, and now also artificial intelligence, I have watched this pattern repeat across every technology wave. The consultants, coaches, and advisors who fall behind are rarely the least capable people in the room. They are the ones whose best thinking stays locked inside their heads, expressed only in one-to-one client conversations, never surfaced, never named, never deployed at scale.
AI changes this. Not because it generates expertise for you, but because when you use it correctly it functions as a skilled interviewer that draws out what you already know and reflects it back in language you can actually use.
I demonstrated this live in my recent AI Insider Lab session. I ran through the workflow myself in preparation, and what surfaced surprised even me. After nearly four decades working across software development, internet strategy, and AI advisory work, I assumed I knew how to articulate what I do. What the AI interview process revealed was three frameworks I had been applying consistently throughout my career that I had never formally named or consciously deployed as intellectual property. Three profound recognitions that had been driving my best work for years, invisible until the workflow made them visible.
The most powerful of the three was what surfaced as Permission Through Demonstration: my instinct to earn the right to teach by showing results first. For example: Losing sixty pounds through daily AI partnership did not just transform my health. It became one of the most credible personal proof points I could offer for everything I teach about AI adoption. And it does not stop there. The entire inception, design, and ongoing development of the AI Insider Lab itself has come through using AI as my trusted thinking partner, not as a tool I consult occasionally, but as an intelligent collaborator present at every significant decision and creative turn. The expertise was always mine. AI helped me see it, shape it, and deploy it at a level I could not have reached alone. That is Permission Through Demonstration in its fullest expression.
I will be writing about all three frameworks in upcoming newsletters, so stay tuned. Each one has direct implications for how consultants, advisors and thought leaders, build authority and attract the right clients.
What made the session particularly powerful was that I was not alone in this discovery. One of our courageous members volunteered to go through the same workflow live in front of the group. At the end of the exercise, he reflected that he could now clearly see how to leverage AI as a genuine thinking partner, not just a tool he uses occasionally, but an intelligent collaborator that helps him surface and deploy what he already knows. That shift in perspective, from user to partner, is exactly what the AI Insider Lab is designed to produce.
Here is Step 1 of the Expertise Extraction Workflow, exactly as I teach it inside the AI Insider Lab:
That single prompt, when given to Claude with genuine specificity and followed by honest answers, opens a conversation that most professionals have never had with anyone, including themselves. The key is what comes after it. The interview that follows Step 1 is where the real depth emerges, and how you navigate it, when to go deeper, when to push back, when to move forward, determines the quality of what you surface.
There are four more steps in this workflow, each one building on the last in a sequence that has been carefully designed to take you from surface description to genuine intellectual discovery. The process goes deeper than most professionals expect, and the place it ends is rarely where they thought they would land when they started. That gap between expectation and outcome is where the real value lives.
The complete workflow, along with a growing library of other high-leverage workflows built specifically for consultants, advisors, and thought leaders, is available exclusively inside the AI Insider Lab.
If you have been carrying expertise that you know is valuable but have never been able to fully express, or have never had it truly tested and pressure tested against rigorous outside perspective, this is the work worth doing. The professionals who experienced this workflow in our session left with something they could use before the week was over, and those running it independently as their next experiment are in for a discovery that will surprise them. That is what the AI Insider Lab is built for: not just learning about AI, but experiencing what it can reveal about you.
