Is it time to take down your blog? Raising the Barr Weekly Memo: Issue 295

If you are posting valuable content to your blog and do so consistently, kudos to you, my sincere respect and appreciation as you may want to skip this article. Otherwise, I encourage you to continue reading.

A few questions I would like to ask you:

  • When was the last time you posted valuable content to your blog?
  • How frequently do you do so?
  • How many gaps in time are clearly shown when viewing your blog?

Blogs are the ultimate repository of your intellectual property, where the manifestation of your ideas, news and shared knowledge come to life and archived for the future. It is the main hub in your domain where you can post and share your announcements and insights, do so in a variety of interesting formats (Text, audio, video, visuals) while pushing it out to be shared on other platforms such as video and audio channels, the social media channels and on other blogs.

Unfortunately, I come across too many blogs that are outdated or there are too many gaps of times between posts. Some hide this by removing the date from their posts while others perhaps don’t realize the strong and negative statement they are making. What statement are you making, what is your blog saying about you and your business, and what are your clients thinking when you are not posting consistent value?

I believe that our clients reach out to us for our fresh and new insightful ideas that result in success. Sure, we all have some great ideas from our past that are very much applicable. Yet the question is how do we consistently reinvent ourselves and our clients by leveraging these old and new ideas and how do we best demonstrate it?

Blogs are one of the effective ways of doing so and especially when done with consistency and great value.

How would our world be different if all the great thinkers of history and our time decided not to share their wisdom with the world? I say it’s time for all of us to think of ways of Raising the Barr®!

If this article has provided you with the push needed to get back to consistently sharing your insights through blogging, or perhaps that it’s time to raise the quality and frequency of your posts, I am thrilled and would love hearing from you. However, if you have nothing else to say or share and do so consistently, I highly recommend you take your blog down. I hope it’s the former.
